Required data
Vessel & Relief Lines
Maximum allowable working pressure:
The maximum pressure for which the pressure device is approved. Units of measurements can be in bar (a), bar (g) or Pa (a).
Temperature at set pressure: (T0)
External back pressure (Pb)
Pressure at the outlet of the blow-off line. Often referred to as ambient pressure or system back pressure. Can be given in bar (a), bar (g) or Pa (a).
Nozzle type
Shape of the inlet connection in the inlet line to the safety valve. The possible choices are: roundedged, normal-edged and sharp-edged.
Additionally for the review module:
Nominal diameter of inlet and outlet lines: (d1 / d2)
The inside diameter of your inlet and outlet lines (DNx / DNy).
Length of inlet and outlet lines: (L1 / L2)
The length of your inlet and outlet lines. Specifications optionally in meters, centimeters, inches or feet.
Fluid from the database
Name or CAS number of the substance to be used.
For example, enter the first letter of the name. The substance list is pre-sorted accordingly for direct selection.
Performance data
Minimum mass flow to be discharged:
The mass flow that can be discharged through the safety valve and the outlet line under the relief conditions. The scenario mass flow must be determined in advance outside of CSE PROSaR.
Review Module:
Manufacturer:
Select the manufacturer of your safety valve. If the manufacturer is not available in the dropdown, you can enter your details under “Custom valve data”.
Type | Standards | Valve material:
Depending on the manufacturer, you have to select the connection of your valve in the dropdown. “Flange” or “Thread” are possible. The same applies to the standards (currently only DIN EN ISO 4126) and the material of the valve housing (stainless steel, unalloyed steel, ductile iron or cast iron). If a manufacturer only offers one variant, the selection is made automatically.
Valve series:
The matching valve series are filtered from the database from the previous information. Please select your valve from the list.
Inlet and outlet nominal sizes:
In the dropdown, select the nominal widths of your valve in the inlet and outlet. If there is a difference between the nominal valve sizes and the pipe diameter, CSE PROSaR automatically calculates a conical narrowing of the inlet line or an expansion of the outlet line.
Narrowest flow diameter:
The narrowest possible flow diameters are provided in the dropdown from the valve data. Please make a selection if there is more than one list entry.
Custom substance data
Physical state
All further entries depend on whether your substance is gaseous or liquid.
Dynamic viscosity (μ0)
Dynamic viscosity of the medium in the system under relief conditions. To be entered in kg / (m * s) (equivalent to Pa * s).
For liquids:
Density (ρ0)
Density of the of the medium in the system under relief conditions. Specified in kg/m³.
For gases:
Molar mass (M)
Molar mass of the medium to be relieved. Specified in kg/mol.
Specific heat capacity (cp)
Specific heat capacity of the medium in the system under relief conditions. Specified in J/(kg*K).
Real gas factor (Z)
Real gas factor of the medium in the system under relief conditions. Dimensionless data.
