Quick Guide to CSE PROSaR Standard Edition
The User Interface
The first manufacturer-neutral app for calculating low-pressure valves—easy to use and equipped with unique functionality. The CSE PROSaR Standard Edition provides you with a clearly structured user interface that you can start using right away. The combined input and output screen is divided into five sections, which you can open and close as you wish.
On the right-hand side, you’ll find an explanatory diagram. It includes the abbreviations used in the input form.
Above the project name input field, you’ll find buttons to save your calculation and to open existing PROSaR data. The file name is generated from the project name and displayed above the input field. If you load a file containing data for a different safety valve, the application automatically switches to the appropriate module.
“Vessels & Relief Lines” Section
The first tab in the CSE PROSaR Standard Edition is already open when the program starts, so you can begin entering data right away. First, specify the design standard for the vessel and define the type of valve you want to calculate. Overpressure protection is enabled by default. You can select the options individually or in combination.
Next, we’ll move on to the basic parameters: design pressure, operating temperature, and external back pressure. You can select your preferred units from the drop-down menu for each parameter. The connection type and desired piping connections complete the basic specifications.
The input fields are laid out similarly to what you’re used to in Microsoft Excel: You can simply use the Tab key to move to the next field. Press “Enter” to confirm your entry. When you leave a field, the value you entered is checked immediately. Valid entries are marked with a green checkmark. Errors are highlighted in red.
“Performance Data” Section
In this first version, the CSE PROSaR Standard Edition offers you a wide range of low-pressure valves from the market leader PROTEGO, with over 160 product variants. Additional brands are in the works.
In the “Performance Data” section, please specify the required overpressure and/or underpressure capacity and select a value for the opening pressure differential.
“Fluid” Section
Now it’s time to define the substance being processed. You can choose whether to use one of the 122 substances currently available in the CSE PROSaR Standard Edition database or to create your own substance data.
When entering individual data, additional information regarding the substance definition may be required, depending on the physical state.
For specific substance groups and/or mixtures, as well as any import and export functions, please contact the CSE PROSaR support team.
Finally, add the explosion group for the substance.
“Optional Specification” Section
The optional specifications provide you with a wide range of parameters that allow you to customize your valve to the specific on-site conditions. Whether you need a plastic valve for corrosive media or integrated flame arresters, you have convenient, compact access to all the specifications here.
Important: By default, all optional specifications are deselected. Therefore, always make sure to customize your valve to meet your requirements before performing the calculation.
“Notes” Section
Under “Notes,” you can record comments about the project. Your entries will be transferred to the calculation worksheet.
Now you can calculate …
The Result
If the input is correct, the valve recommendation, including all relevant data, will be available within a few seconds. For low-pressure valves in particular, CSE PROSaR provides you with several configuration options, including the corresponding nominal diameters and quantities. This allows you to optimize costs and, if necessary, reduce the weight load on the tank surface.
To open the complete calculation worksheet, including your notes, simply click “Open Report” in the window. This will take you to the results table, which contains all your entries and calculation data. You can save the worksheet as a PDF in either short or long format for your records. From the calculation worksheet, you can also return to the combined input and output screen to modify your entries and recalculate.
If the result does not appear within a few seconds, please click “Cancel” and check your entries. If the problem persists, please contact the CSE Engineering team.
